The megacity of the future is currently taking shape in the deserts of Saudi Arabia, and the ABC Mundial team had the opportunity to witness its wonders firsthand at the "The Line" exhibition in Riyadh. Karina Giorgenello and Pablo Pla were left amazed as they explored the intricate details of this innovative urban project.

"The Line Experience" exhibition showcased the urban innovation of Saudi Arabia's "The Line" project, a 170-kilometer-long city that will eventually house up to nine million people and serve as the heart of the NEOM mega project. What sets "The Line" apart is its unprecedented design: a long city surrounded by mirrors in the desert, a vertically interconnected city that aspires to be car-free, have zero carbon emissions, operate entirely on clean energy, and be managed by artificial intelligence.

"The Line" will be a city like no other that has ever existed. With its impressive 170 kilometers in length and a width of 200 meters, this metropolis is designed from the ground up with people in mind rather than cars, marking a true revolution in urban life.

Its most distinctive feature will be verticality, with towering parallel buildings reaching up to 500 meters in height. These skyscrapers will not only serve as living spaces but also house gardens, shopping centers, and other public facilities. The combination of tall buildings with green areas and recreational zones will create a truly unique and astonishing urban environment.

To maintain harmony with the natural desert surroundings, "The Line" will be supported by strategically placed pillars in some areas. These pillars will allow the passage of animals, the flow of wind, and the free movement of sand, contributing to the preservation of the local ecosystem and adapting the city to the extreme conditions of the environment.

In summary, "The Line" is much more than a city; it is a bold and revolutionary vision of how cities of the future can be more sustainable, livable, and people-centered. Its innovative design and commitment to environmental conservation make it a truly amazing project that promises to change the way we conceive modern cities.

Scheduled to welcome its first residents and guests by the end of the decade, "The Line" is a city like no other. Our team discovered its unique design, which redefines urban spaces in three dimensions, prioritizing people's needs without the presence of cars and their associated infrastructure. This innovative design approach is poised to address significant challenges, such as the growing demand for urban land, rising social and economic disparities, and the impacts of climate change.

"The Line" serves as an innovative model for city development, aligning with a radical approach to nature conservation, human habitability, and human progress. As part of the broader NEOM project, which includes a smart city, a mountain resort, and a water and hydrogen company, "The Line" alone is estimated to cost $500 billion. However, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, one of the wealthiest countries globally, is committed to investing in this ambitious venture.

The total cost of the NEOM project, including "The Line," is estimated at a staggering $1 trillion, demonstrating the kingdom's determination to make Saudi Arabia more appealing to investors and tourists.

This tourism boom is the result of "Vision 2030," led by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, which includes transformative projects that are radically reshaping the nation.

Gloria Guevara Manzo, Senior Advisor to Saudi Arabia's Minister of Tourism, Ahmed Al Khateeb, highlighted that these projects are having a transformative impact on the country's economy. Tourism, which currently accounts for less than 3% of Saudi Arabia's GDP, is on track to reach 10% by 2030, driving economic diversification and reducing dependence on oil.

Among these notable projects is "The Line," a next-generation sustainable city spanning 170 kilometers and housing a million residents—a symbol of technological innovation and sustainability that promises to shape the future of urban living.
