Peru Travel Mart 2024 successfully concludes, giving a great boost to the country's tourism recovery
The thirty-first edition of the Peru Travel Mart, held from October 17 to 20 in Lima, concluded with remarkable success, recording over 6,000 business meetings in just two days at the Sheraton Hotel. This year, the B2B meeting attracted 165 international buyers from 28 countries, surpassing last year’s participation, which had 150 attendees. Exhibitors noted that a greater number of agreements were reached than in the previous edition, highlighting the quality and profile of the operators present, meticulously selected by the organizers.
After the meetings, participants moved to the Country Club Lima Hotel for a closing cocktail that featured a vibrant display of Peruvian dances and live music, creating a festive atmosphere. During the closing, José Koechlin, president of the National Chamber of Tourism (CANATUR), praised the work of the organizing team led by Maritza Montero, who also emphasized the importance of this event as a driver of recovery and economic growth for the country.
The event also included networking activities and training sessions that facilitated negotiations and expanded connections between buyers and exhibitors. This edition promoted various regions of the country, showcasing their tourist resources and emblematic products, such as crafts, cacao, pisco, and Peruvian coffee. Featured regions included Chachapoyas, Arequipa, Cusco, and Machu Picchu.
Among the companies present were JetSMART, Delta Air Lines, Sky Airlines, Iberia, and Volaris, which presented their proposals to improve air connectivity. Eduardo Ortiz, general manager of the Sheraton Hotel, was the event's host, contributing to creating a conducive atmosphere for networking.
The cruise sector was also significantly represented with Amazon River Cruises. Additionally, Gianella Mayorga Aguiar de Vega from Villa Tours and Teresa Rubina, president of the Association of Hotels and Restaurants of Arequipa, discussed the importance of promoting the tourist attractions in their regions. From Chachapoyas to Machu Picchu, the event highlighted the country's cultural and natural wealth, creating a space for travel agencies like Trip 360 and Vértigo Travel Perú to share their offers and connect with other industry players.
During the meeting, we had the opportunity to speak with María Del Sol Velásquez García, director of Tourism Promotion. Velásquez shared Peru's ambitions to solidify its position on the global tourism map, highlighting that the country is focusing on quality and diversification in its offerings rather than just on the volume of tourists. Additionally, the event's inauguration was attended by the president of Peru, Dina Boluarte, who reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the tourism industry.
The Peru Travel Mart 2024 has not only served as a catalyst for the reactivation of tourism in Peru but has also reaffirmed the commitment of industry companies to enrich and diversify the tourism offering. With projected revenues that could exceed 18 million dollars, the event lays the groundwork for a promising future in the Peruvian tourism industry.
