MIAMI, September 2, 2026 – Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) celebrated the opening of Great Tides Waterpark, its newest attraction at Great Stirrup Cay, the cruise line’s private island destination in The Bahamas.

The exclusive preview event brought together government officials, travel partners, media, more than 100 content creators and special guests for a first look at the new waterpark ahead of its official opening to cruise guests on September 4, 2026, when Norwegian Luna™ arrives at the island.

The nearly six-acre waterpark features 19 waterslides across four themed areas: Tidal Tower, Cliffside Cove, Wandering River and Splash Cay.

Adventure and family entertainment

At the heart of the attraction is Tidal Tower, a 170-foot-high structure featuring eight waterslides. Highlights include Tropic Spiral and Breakwater Blasters, designed to deliver high-speed thrills through drops, twists and uphill water propulsion.

Cliffside Cove combines adventure and family fun with Cliffside Leap, featuring 10- and 15-foot cliff-jump platforms, as well as The Great Slide, which allows up to four guests to ride together.

For a more relaxed experience, Wandering River offers a route of more than 800 feet, including an immersive tunnel and the Floataway Bar, a swim-up bar accessible directly from the water.

Younger visitors have their own dedicated space at Splash Cay, featuring eight mini-slides, interactive water elements and a 300-gallon tipping bucket.

New culinary experiences

Great Tides Waterpark also expands the island’s food and beverage offering with three new food trucks: Low Tide Smoke, serving barbecue; Catch of the Cay, focused on seafood; and Tidal Treats, featuring handcrafted ice cream and desserts.

During the preview event, guests also experienced special activations from NCL beverage partners Aperol®, Coca-Cola®, Casamigos™ and Hampton Water®, along with a vibrant Junkanoo performance celebrating Bahamian culture.

Great Tides Waterpark represents another major investment in the ongoing transformation of Great Stirrup Cay. The island also features beaches, the Great Life Lagoon pool area, swim-up bars, cabanas, Splash Harbor, the adults-only Vibe Shore Club, Silver Cove and a range of water and adventure activities.

Guests can visit Great Stirrup Cay on NCL itineraries departing seasonally from ports including New York, Philadelphia, Miami, Tampa, Port Canaveral and Jacksonville.
