The U.S. Travel Association is calling for strong backing of the "Securing Growth and Robust Leadership in American Aviation Act," a bipartisan initiative in the U.S. House of Representatives, which is commonly referred to as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reauthorization bill.

Geoff Freeman, President, and CEO of the U.S. Travel Association, issued the following statement in anticipation of the U.S. House of Representatives' passage of the bipartisan ‘Securing Growth and Robust Leadership in American Aviation Act’, also known as the Federal Aviation Administration reauthorization bill:

"To meet the escalating demand and boost the U.S. economy, the United States requires a more modern, efficient, and secure air travel system. The bipartisan House bill represents a critical step in rectifying years of federal underinvestment, which has led to a shortfall of 1,200 air traffic controllers compared to a decade ago.

"The proposed bill includes provisions to enhance investments in airport infrastructure, expedite the implementation of air traffic control technologies, and address workforce shortages, ultimately alleviating strain on the system and enhancing our nation's global competitiveness.

"It responds to the needs of travelers and the industry alike: Over half of Americans indicate they would travel more for leisure if the travel experience were less cumbersome.

"The U.S. Travel Association extends its gratitude to Chairman Graves (MO), Ranking Member Larsen, Chairman Graves (LA), Ranking Member Cohen, and all members of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee for their dedicated efforts in advancing this bill. We implore the U.S. Senate to take prompt action on an FAA reauthorization bill."

The U.S. Travel Association remains committed to advocating for the growth and development of the U.S. travel industry, recognizing its vital contribution to the nation's economy and prosperity.
