During IPW 2026 held in Greater Fort Lauderdale, ABC MUNDIAL spoke with Lori German, Deputy Director of the Office of Economic Development for the City of Glendale, Arizona, who presented the main investments and projects transforming the destination into one of the most dynamic emerging centers for tourism and entertainment in the United States.

At the Media Marketplace, the representative highlighted Glendale’s strategic location, positioned close to key markets such as California and Las Vegas, which facilitates access for international visitors and travelers exploring the western United States.

“We are next to California and very close to Las Vegas, with fast and accessible air connections. Many people arrive in Los Angeles or Nevada and in just 40 minutes they can be in Glendale,” Lori German explained.

The city is strongly investing in sports tourism, international entertainment, and family experiences. One of the main drivers is its Sports & Entertainment District, a modern tourism and commercial hub designed to be fully walkable, concentrating multiple activities within a single area.

There is also the Arizona Cardinals NFL stadium, which hosts major sporting events and large international concerts. German noted that Glendale has already hosted performances by artists such as Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, The Rolling Stones, Metallica, and Lady Gaga, while upcoming shows include Ed Sheeran, Chayanne, Karol G, and other top international and Latin artists.

The destination continues strengthening its position in international soccer as well. In recent years, it has hosted national team and club matches, including Colombia and América, while potential future matches involving Argentina and Barcelona are under consideration.

In addition to NFL football and concerts, Glendale is one of the host cities for MLB Spring Training, where historic teams such as the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago White Sox conduct their preseason training in Arizona.

German explained that the destination aims to attract diverse traveler profiles, from sports fans to families, friend groups, and tourists interested in shopping, dining, and entertainment.

“We have more than 50 restaurants, casinos, outlets, and very accessible shopping centers. Many Latin American visitors come specifically for shopping and combine it with events and activities,” she said.

One of the most ambitious projects announced during IPW 2026 is the construction of the largest resort in Arizona, currently under development in Glendale. The complex will feature 1,100 rooms, more than 12 restaurants, internationally recognized chef-driven dining experiences, and over 20 themed bars.

The new resort will also include a 16,000-seat amphitheater with a unique feature: guests will be able to watch concerts directly from their hotel room balconies.

Among the most innovative concepts is the first Mattel Adventure Park integrated into a resort, featuring attractions inspired by iconic brands such as Barbie and Hot Wheels.

The park will include Hot Wheels-themed roller coasters, go-kart tracks, Barbie Beach House interactive experiences, UNO and Pictionary-inspired games, immersive reality zones, laser tag, and multiple attractions for both children and adults.

“These brands generate a lot of nostalgia and are now very present again thanks to films and new immersive experiences,” German explained.

The project also includes convention spaces, wedding venues, spas, retail areas, and recreational activities such as pickleball and interactive golf, as well as experiences like hot air balloon rides.

With major hotel investments, new entertainment projects, and a growing international events calendar, Glendale aims to consolidate its position as one of the strongest emerging destinations in tourism and entertainment in the United States.
