The Ahmadía Argentina Community made solidarity visits and delivered toys and food at the Ricardo Gutiérrez Children's Hospital of the autonomous city of Buenos Aires and in a humble neighborhood, the town of González Catán, province of Buenos Aires. The tours were led by Imam Marwan Gill, leader of the Ahmadía Community in Argentina.

ABC Mundial: - Marwan, congratulations! The Ahmadiyya Community once again is here in the hospital Gutierrez. At this occasion, why?

Marwan Gill: - For us in Islam – the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community which was founded in 1889 by His Holiness Mirza Ghulam Ahmad who claimed to be the Promised Messiah of the latter days, for us it is very important the solidarity and brotherhood. Islam, which literally means peace, its basic purpose is to convey peace, love and brotherhood. Today here we want to distribute toys. Yesterday we also went to a poor neighbourhood of Gonzalez Catan to distribute toys. We try to collaborate with the society and to help. I know these are small drops in a big ocean, there is a lot of need, a lot of suffering and poverty. I know these are drops but we have the hope that these small gestures could create a big change. Through these small gestures we could achieve high goals – which is to convey peace, love and brotherhood. Therefore in Islam, it is very important to do charity – be it on a high level or very small and simple way. For example, the Holy Prophet Muhammad said that greeting the other person with words of peace is also a charity. Greeting someone with a smile is also a form of charity. Therefore, we try to find and benefit from any possible opportunity to do charity and convey love and peace.

ABC Mundial: -  What is the purpose? What is the purpose of Islam in doing such acts of charity?

Marwan Gill: -  In Islam, already at the beginning of the Holy Quran God Allah reveals Himself as the Lord of all mankind. Therefore in Islam, the philosophy of the teachings of Islam is that to love the Creator you have to love His whole creation. You cant love the father without loving his children. Therefore Islam teaches to love all of His creation without any distinction of ethnicity, race and religion. Hence, we try to help and serve the whole mankind. And this also the purpose of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community which is in more than 200 countries. We also, particularly in Argentina with our motto “Love for all, Hatred for none” want to achieve this here and collaborate with the society by conveying love, peace and good values of coexistence.

ABC Mundial: -  And on personal level as a member of your community, how do you feel to distribute a toy to a child who at this moment is going through difficulty whilst being admitted in the hospital?

Marwan Gill: -  Yes, as each year, also as went yesterday to a poor neighbourhood and I am sure also today – these are very minor gestures to distribute a toy –

ABC Mundial: -   but make a change on the faces –

Marwan Gill: -  Yes, the impact on the child but also his parents. You can notice the happiness and smile. Surely, it gives a temporary happiness to the children, but also for the parents it is like an act of solidarity. They see, that people come to visit us – in our case as Muslims, we don’t even celebrate Christmas, but it is a gesture of solidarity and brotherhood to the people here. We want to convey peace and love. I know the toys are something very minor, but we are sure that small gestures could help us to build bridges for a good coexistence in the society.

ABC Mundial: -  Those people who are watching this and might be interested to get into contact with your community, how can they do that?

Marwan Gill: -  You can contact us through social media. We have accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram as Ahmadia Arg or directly at our community centre which is located in Capital, in Guemes 4151.

ABC Mundial: - Congratulations Marwan, for this act of love here in Gutierrez.
