Royal Caribbean Marks Construction Milestone for Its Next Oasis Class Ship with Keel-Laying Ceremony in France
Royal Caribbean has reached a major milestone in the development of its next Oasis Class vacation experience, celebrating the keel-laying ceremony for the seventh ship in the groundbreaking class at the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France. The event officially marks the start of the vessel's assembly and the beginning of the two-year construction process leading up to its anticipated debut in 2028.
During the ceremony, teams from Royal Caribbean and Chantiers de l'Atlantique placed a set of newly minted coins beneath the ship’s first steel block in the dry dock, known as the keel. This longstanding maritime tradition symbolizes good fortune and safe travels for the vessel, its future crew members, and the millions of vacationers who will sail aboard.
While the ship’s name has not yet been announced, Royal Caribbean confirmed that the vessel will join its highly successful Oasis Class lineup in 2028. The new ship is expected to introduce bold new adventures, enhanced dining experiences, immersive entertainment, and innovative features designed for travelers of all ages.
The Oasis Class has transformed the cruise industry with some of the world's largest and most innovative ships, and the upcoming vessel is set to continue that legacy. With construction now underway, anticipation is already building for what promises to be one of the most exciting cruise launches of the decade.
