ABC MUNDIAL Spain Begins a New Era with Its Own News Website Under the Editorial Leadership of Héctor Heredia
Spain – After five years of sustained growth within the global ABC MUNDIAL platform, the Spanish edition is entering a new and historic phase. Since June 12, 2026, ABC MUNDIAL Spain has operated with its own domain and dedicated news portal in Spain through abcmundial.es, strengthening its editorial presence in Europe and reinforcing the international strategy of the media group.
The new website is led by journalist Héctor Heredia, who previously served as ABC MUNDIAL’s Head of Correspondents in Europe and now assumes the additional role of Editorial Director of the Spanish edition.
The launch of abcmundial.es represents a strategic milestone in ABC MUNDIAL’s international expansion. With 13 years of experience, the digital media outlet has established itself as a trusted source of information on tourism, business, politics, society, culture, and sports for audiences across Latin America, Europe, and other international markets.
A Growing Audience
The evolution of ABC MUNDIAL Spain over the past five years reflects the steady growth of an audience increasingly interested in Spanish and European current affairs.
During 2025, ABC MUNDIAL reached nearly 5 million monthly visits across its digital ecosystem and generated more than 5 million combined views on social media and audiovisual platforms, consolidating a global community of readers and followers.
A Bridge Between Spain, Europe, and Latin America
According to Héctor Heredia, Editorial Director of ABC MUNDIAL Spain, although the Spanish edition was originally created to bring Spanish news and developments to readers in Latin America, audience trends over the years ultimately reshaped the project's editorial strategy.
"When we started, our primary goal was to tell Spain’s story to Latin America. However, over time we noticed that an increasingly significant share of our audience was coming directly from Spain. That sustained growth showed us there was a genuine demand for local and international news presented from a Spanish perspective. We understood that it was time to evolve into an edition with its own identity, focused on Spain and its relationship with Europe, Latin America, and the rest of the world," Heredia explained.
He emphasized that the creation of abcmundial.es is a direct response to that audience transformation and to the remarkable growth experienced by the Spain section within the global ABC MUNDIAL platform.
"ABCMundial.es is the natural evolution of a project that has grown alongside its readers. Spain is a strategic market for our international expansion, and having our own platform will allow us to strengthen local content production while maintaining a global perspective," he added.
Heredia also noted that the new website will expand coverage from Spain and across Europe, generating specialized content focused on tourism, business, investment, and international affairs.
A Commitment to International Journalism
ABC MUNDIAL CEO Karina Giorgenello highlighted the importance of this new step in the company's global development.
"The launch of abcmundial.es represents much more than a new website. It is the culmination of years of work, investment, and audience development. Spain has become one of our fastest-growing markets, and today we are taking a major step forward in our commitment to professional, independent international journalism that remains connected to the needs of our readers," Giorgenello said.
She also emphasized that the new platform will strengthen ties between Europe and Latin America while expanding ABC MUNDIAL’s presence in key international markets.
A Global Multimedia Ecosystem
The launch of abcmundial.es becomes part of ABC MUNDIAL’s international media ecosystem, which includes its global Spanish-language edition, ABC MUNDIAL NEWS in English, ABC MUNDIAL Colombia, directed by Raúl Zapata, and Panorama de Noticias, led by Pablo Pla, who also serves as Editor-in-Chief of ABC MUNDIAL International.
The group maintains a network of correspondents and editorial teams across Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Spain, Italy, and India, with key contributors including Pablo Munini in Italy and Deepak Dhawan in India. Its multimedia ecosystem also includes online radio, specialized newsletters, a YouTube channel, and the weekly streaming program Panorama ABC MUNDIAL.
