Trump announced that the U.S. "destroyed" Iran's nuclear facilities
In one of the most risky and consequential decisions of his second term, U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Saturday night that American military forces bombed three nuclear facilities in Iran, directly joining Israel’s offensive to dismantle the Tehran regime’s atomic program.
“Iran’s main nuclear enrichment facilities have been totally and completely destroyed,” Trump declared in a televised address from the White House, flanked by Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth. “If peace does not come soon, we will strike other targets with precision, speed, and skill,” he added.
The attacks targeted the nuclear complexes of Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, all considered strategic to the advancement of Iran’s nuclear program. According to Trump, the operation was a “spectacular military success,” carried out by U.S. B-2 bombers using bunker-busting bombs on selected targets.
Shortly after the announcement, Iran reacted harshly. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that “the United States has crossed a major red line” and that his country “has the right to defend itself.” The Islamic Revolutionary Guard warned that “the war has begun,” while Iran-aligned leaders, such as the Houthis in Yemen, threatened retaliation against Washington.
