"Si nos hacen doping a los pilotos, creo que todos positivos". Las declaraciones del piloto argentino Franco Colapinto y el particular ambiente en Las Vegas marcaron la jornada de prácticas libres en la F1.

A comedic and unexpected moment unfolded in the mixed zone of the Las Vegas Grand Prix when young Argentine driver Franco Colapinto, known for his spontaneity, surprised journalists with a comment that sparked laughter and quickly went viral.

After finishing 17th and 18th in the first two free practice sessions on the Las Vegas street circuit, Colapinto didn’t go unnoticed as he referred to a peculiar smell around the track. “Yes, there was a smell of weed. If they did a doping test on us drivers now, I think we’d all test positive. I swear, dude,” he said with a laugh, lightening the mood after a challenging day on the track.

Colapinto wasn’t the only one to comment on the unusual phenomenon. Sergio "Checo" Pérez, Red Bull driver, also noted the strong smell of marijuana around the circuit. “I’m already a bit tired of it; the amount is incredible. It’s something all the drivers are talking about,” the Mexican remarked, adding a more serious tone to the issue.

The Las Vegas Track: A Tough Challenge

Aside from his unconventional remarks, Colapinto also shared a technical analysis of his performance during practice. “It’s a challenging circuit with very little grip. The track was really dirty, it felt like a rally track,” explained the driver from Pilar, who remained optimistic despite the initial difficulties.

Colapinto emphasized the importance of adapting to the track conditions to improve ahead of qualifying and the race. “We need to work hard; the track is really cold at this time, which makes tire management difficult. But the show is amazing, with all the people and lights. I hope we can achieve a good result,” he concluded.

His Current Position in Formula 1

The Argentine driver, who replaced American Logan Sargeant at Williams this year, has had an impressive start to his Formula 1 career, earning five points in the championship. While his future with the British team remains uncertain for next season, Colapinto’s name is already being linked to teams like Red Bull and Alpine, which could solidify his place in the premier category of motorsport.

The Las Vegas Grand Prix will continue with the third free practice session on Friday night, followed by qualifying in the early hours of Saturday to Sunday. The race is scheduled for Sunday at 3:00 AM (Argentina time).

Franco Colapinto continues to make an impact both on and off the track, showing that, besides being a promising driver, his personality and humor make him a fan favorite.
