Royal Caribbean International has named Stacy Lubin as the Director of Environment and Sustainability for Royal Beach Club Paradise Island, slated to open in 2025 on a 17-acre beachfront in Nassau, The Bahamas. In a move to bolster local recruitment efforts, the appointment of Lubin, a 20-year veteran in conservation, underscores the cruise line's commitment to environmental stewardship.

Lubin, recognized for her extensive background in sustainability and environmental policy, will oversee all environmental initiatives at the beach club. Her role includes ensuring compliance with Royal Caribbean's standards and local regulations, collaborating closely with The Bahamas’ Department of Environmental Planning and Protection.

Philip Simon, President and General Manager of Royal Beach Club and Royal Caribbean International Bahamas, praised Lubin’s appointment, highlighting her career's alignment with Royal Caribbean's vision for sustainable development. He emphasized Lubin’s dual focus on conserving The Bahamas' natural resources while innovating sustainable practices.

Royal Caribbean International outlined its environmental strategy in April 2023, emphasizing zero waste-to-landfill, renewable energy adoption, no dredging or overwater cabanas, wastewater treatment, habitat protection, and environmental monitoring as core principles for the new beach club.

Lubin holds a bachelor’s degree in marine biology and coastal ecology from the University of Plymouth and a Master of Science in sustainable environmental management from Middlesex University. Her career includes pivotal roles at Sterling Global Financial and Baha Mar Development Company, where she managed significant environmental projects.

Lubin’s appointment follows the selection of Captain Cameron Gibson as harbormaster for Royal Beach Club Paradise Island, reinforcing Royal Caribbean's commitment to local recruitment initiatives. The forthcoming Royal Beach Club Paradise Island aims to integrate Bahamian culture and ownership, representing a unique public-private partnership that will enrich both visitors and local communities alike.
