The Saint Martin Tourist Office promoted the island at the West Indian American Parade and in an interview with PIX11 in New York
New York, USA – A prominent delegation from the Saint Martin Tourist Office recently participated in the 2025 West Indian American Day Parade in New York, one of the most vibrant Caribbean events in the Big Apple. During the celebration, the Saint Martin team was interviewed on PIX11, sharing the island’s cultural, culinary, and tourism richness with a wide international audience.
The president of the Office, Madame Valérie Damaseau, spoke passionately about Saint Martin, highlighting its diverse activities, authentic experiences, and the unique blend of French and Caribbean cuisine that makes the island an exceptional destination.
Alongside her, Christine Illidge, winner of the Authentic Stars category at the 2024 Festival de la Gastronomie and owner of Sandy’s Creole Cuisine, presented a special dish representing the island’s typical flavors. Malaïka Hunt and Suzanne Scantlebery were also present, representing the best of Saint Martin’s talent and authenticity on this important international stage.
Saint Martin is recognized as the culinary capital of the Caribbean, with gastronomic hubs such as Grand Case and Orient Bay, where fine dining restaurants coexist with traditional lolos offering smoked barbecue on the beach. Beyond its culinary offerings, the island provides land, sea, and air adventures: from horseback riding and cooking classes to snorkeling, skydiving, and sunset catamaran cruises.
The annual Gastronomy Festival, taking place from November 11 to 22, 2025, will be another highlight, attracting chefs and visitors from around the world to celebrate local flavors, including the iconic passion fruit.
With accommodations for all tastes and budgets, widespread English proficiency, and the U.S. dollar accepted throughout the island, Saint Martin positions itself as an accessible, safe, and experience-rich destination for international travelers.
