The Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA), the leading voice of the region’s hospitality industry for over 60 years, proudly announced that 48 hotels and resorts from the U.S. Virgin Islands (USVI) have officially joined the association—marking a pivotal step in strengthening regional collaboration.

“We are thrilled to confirm that both the U.S. Virgin Islands Hotel and Tourism Association (USVIHTA) and the St. Croix Hotel and Tourism Association are now full-compliance associations within CHTA, bringing their entire hotel membership into our Caribbean community,” said Bill Clegg, Chair of CHTA’s Membership Committee.

Clegg praised the leadership of Lisa Hamilton, President of USVIHTA, and the boards of both associations for their unanimous decision to integrate CHTA membership into their annual dues structure. “This move reflects the true spirit of Caribbean unity and gives members full access to the tools, resources and regional network needed to grow stronger and stay competitive.”

CHTA supports hotels, villas, and vacation properties by enhancing operational efficiency, reducing costs and boosting profitability. Members also gain exclusive access to industry insights, training programs, advocacy, and networking opportunities.

This development signals a strategic shift by USVI tourism leaders to deepen their engagement in shaping regional tourism policy at a time when coordinated action is more crucial than ever.

“USVIHTA has supported CHTA for over four decades, but having all our member hotels now fully on board marks a new era of strength and solidarity for the U.S. Virgin Islands,” said Hamilton. “Unified membership means every property now has a seat at the table and a voice in shaping Caribbean tourism’s future.”
