Australian police are investigating an allegation made by a paparazzo claiming that he was assaulted by Taylor Swift's father, Scott Swift, on a Sydney wharf.

Ben McDonald, 51, accused Scott Swift, 71, of striking his face while they were on the Sydney wharf. Fortunately, McDonald did not require medical assistance following the incident.

The altercation occurred on Tuesday after Mr. Swift and the renowned pop star disembarked from a yacht.

A representative for the singer did not directly address the assault allegation but mentioned that two individuals had behaved aggressively towards them.

Footage published by Australian media depicts the singer, concealed beneath an umbrella, walking with her father and security guards along Neutral Bay Wharf at around 02:30 local time (15:30 GMT Monday). Cameras flash before two voices, purportedly a photographer and a guard, accuse each other of interfering with umbrellas. However, it remains unclear whether the video captures the alleged incident.

Mr. McDonald informed the BBC that Taylor Swift was already inside a car when Mr. Swift "charged in" and assaulted him. He stated that in his 23 years of experience, he had never encountered a situation where someone physically attacked him, and he claimed that he had not provoked the incident.

According to the singer's representative, "Two individuals were aggressively pushing their way towards Taylor, grabbing at her security personnel, and threatening to throw a female staff member into the water."

This incident unfolded just after Swift concluded the final concert of her immensely successful Eras tour in Australia.

New South Wales Police stated, "The younger man reported the incident, and inquiries are now underway by officers attached to North Shore Police Area Command."
