Travel industry CEOs met with President Donald Trump at the White House to discuss the future of international tourism to the United States, setting an ambitious target of 100 million visitors annually by 2030.

WASHINGTON, September 2026. – Leaders of the U.S. travel industry left the White House with an ambitious goal for the next four years: attract 100 million international visitors annually to the United States by 2030 and strengthen the country’s position as the world’s most visited destination.

The target was highlighted by Geoff Freeman, President and CEO of U.S. Travel, following a meeting with President Donald Trump and travel industry CEOs focused on the opportunities ahead for the U.S. travel economy.

Freeman pointed to the momentum generated by major international events, including the FIFA World Cup, America’s 250th anniversary celebrations and a strong summer travel season, as evidence of the potential for further growth in inbound tourism.

According to U.S. Travel, reaching 100 million international visitors each year could generate an estimated $81 billion in additional visitor spending, support more than 400,000 American jobs and bring millions of additional travelers to destinations across the country.

The industry also emphasized the importance of international visitors as ambassadors for the United States, arguing that travelers who experience the country firsthand can encourage friends and family to visit.

The proposed 2030 target represents a significant increase from the nearly 80 million international visitors recorded in 2018, a record referenced by Freeman during his statement.

With the United States preparing to host major global events and celebrations over the coming years, the travel industry sees an opportunity to expand international demand, strengthen tourism infrastructure and make travel to the country more accessible and attractive.

The message from the White House meeting was clear: the U.S. travel industry wants to turn the current momentum into a long-term strategy for international tourism growth.
