CHTA Announces Antigua and Barbuda as Host of Caribbean Travel Marketplace 2026
Region’s Premier Tourism Business Event Returns to Antigua and Barbuda, May 12–15, 2026
The Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association (CHTA) has officially announced that Antigua and Barbuda will once again host the Caribbean Travel Marketplace (CTM), the region’s premier tourism business event, taking place May 12–15, 2026.
This decision marks the continuation of a successful partnership following the outstanding 2025 edition, reinforcing CHTA’s confidence in Antigua and Barbuda’s leadership, organization, and commitment to advancing tourism across the Caribbean.
A Proven Destination for World-Class Events
CHTA President Sanovnik Destang highlighted the importance of continuity and collaboration in his announcement:
“As we look ahead to Caribbean Travel Marketplace 2026, we are proud to continue our collaboration with Antigua and Barbuda and build on the momentum of this year’s event. Marketplace continues to amplify the Caribbean’s collective voice globally, opening doors to new opportunities and showcasing the resilience and innovation that define our region.”
The dual-island nation has firmly established itself as a premier meetings and conference destination, recently earning the title of “Caribbean’s Best Meetings and Conference Destination” at the World Travel Awards. Antigua and Barbuda successfully hosted major international gatherings, including Marketplace 2025, the OAS Conference, and is preparing for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting — achievements that underscore its world-class infrastructure and hospitality excellence.
Commitment to Regional Growth
According to Colin C. James, CEO of the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority, hosting Marketplace once again reflects the destination’s dedication to strengthening Caribbean tourism:
“Bringing together the Caribbean’s tourism leaders, suppliers, and international buyers to conduct business underscores our ongoing commitment to the growth of Caribbean tourism. We look forward to welcoming delegates with the vibrant culture and warm hospitality that define Antigua and Barbuda.”
Marketplace 2026: Enhancements and Focus on Connectivity
Next year’s edition will feature expanded accommodation options, optimized venues, and a renewed emphasis on improving regional and international air connectivity. Collaboration among government partners, aviation stakeholders, and tourism officials aims to ensure greater accessibility and affordability for delegates and buyers traveling across the region.
Strength Through Unity
CHTA also reaffirmed its solidarity with Jamaica, which continues its recovery efforts following Hurricane Melissa. Through its Disaster Response Fund, the association is supporting affected member destinations, emphasizing that the Caribbean’s greatest strength lies in unity and collective resilience.
CHTA CEO Vanessa Ledesma noted:
“Marketplace has always been about bringing the Caribbean together. As our region continues to navigate growth and recovery, this event remains vital in strengthening partnerships, supporting business development, and advancing tourism across the Caribbean.”
Further details regarding registration, buyer programs, and travel information for Caribbean Travel Marketplace 2026 will be announced in the coming months.
