Saint-Martin Leads a New Era of Tourism Cooperation in the Caribbean: “The Future of Our Islands Lies in Working Together”
The Saint-Martin Tourist Office has launched an ambitious initiative to strengthen ties with neighboring islands, marking the beginning of a new phase in regional collaboration. The first stop was Saint-Barthélemy, followed by Guadeloupe, where strong working relationships were forged to improve inter-island cooperation. The plan will soon extend to Martinique and French Guiana.
The goal of this regional strategy is clear: to join forces in creating a stronger, more cohesive, and attractive tourism offering for global travelers. This includes sharing resources, optimizing budgets, developing unique island-hopping experiences, and coordinating joint press and fam trips among partner destinations.
One of the voices leading this vision is Priscillia Wachter, Deputy Director of the Saint-Martin Tourist Office and Manager of International Promotion and Marketing. From her position, she emphasizes the importance of unified regional action in a rapidly evolving tourism landscape:
“In a world where travelers are increasingly seeking rich, authentic, and connected experiences, inter-island collaborations are a powerful tool to enhance the value of our destinations.”
For Wachter, collaboration not only enriches the visitor experience but also enables the sharing of knowledge, the development of complementary and innovative tourism products, and the strengthening of the islands’ global visibility with a unified voice:
“Each of our islands has a unique identity, but together we form a vibrant mosaic of experiences that deserves to be promoted collectively. At the Saint-Martin Tourist Office, we are fully committed to this vision. Beyond enhancing our appeal, it allows us to better address common challenges—whether related to connectivity, sustainability, or economic resilience.”
This initiative is also part of a broader context of regional integration, such as the Rencontres Territoriales Antilles-Guyane (RTAG), which brings together officials from Guadeloupe, Martinique, French Guiana, Saint-Martin, and Saint-Barthélemy to define joint strategies for sustainable development and territorial cooperation.
Through strategic action and regional leadership, Saint-Martin is positioning itself at the forefront of a new approach to Caribbean tourism—one that is more collaborative, more connected, and focused on shared benefits.
