Visit Lauderdale strengthens its presence at Vitrina Turística de ANATO 2025 Colombia
Bogotá once again became the epicenter of tourism with the ANATO 2025 Tourism Showcase (Vitrina Turística de ANATO Colombia), where Visit Lauderdale, along with Spirit Airlines and Sawgrass Mills, highlighted its offerings for travelers from Colombia and around the world.
During the event, Caitlan Etchevers, Visit Lauderdale's Senior Manager of Global Trade Development, expressed her enthusiasm about the delegation’s participation in this key industry gathering. “We are very happy in Fort Lauderdale to be here in Bogotá, always welcoming all Colombians. Thanks to Spirit and Avianca for the connectivity that allows us to receive more and more visitors. Avianca is launching its direct flight from Medellín, making it even easier to access our beaches and attractions,” said Etchevers.
News and destination growth
One of the biggest announcements at ANATO 2025 was the reopening of the iconic Pier 66 hotel in Fort Lauderdale, a historic landmark that closed in 2020 and has now been renovated into an exclusive Virtuoso luxury hotel. “This hotel has an incredible history, with its iconic tower, three pools, and 12 restaurants. Plus, its proximity to the cruise port makes it an ideal option for travelers,” Etchevers explained.
The cruise sector is also booming in Fort Lauderdale, with expectations of surpassing 4 million passengers in 2025. “Celebrity Cruises operates year-round, and we are thrilled about Disney Cruise Line’s arrival. We also continue to welcome Royal Caribbean and Princess Cruises, reinforcing our position as a key cruise tourism destination,” she added.
The profile of Colombian visitors
According to Etchevers, Colombians have a strong connection with Florida and see Fort Lauderdale as an extension of their own country. “The profile of Colombian travelers is very diverse. They come to enjoy our beaches, shopping, visit family, attend soccer games, or even stop by before heading to theme parks. For many, it’s easier to get to Fort Lauderdale than to some beaches within Colombia,” she highlighted.
Preparations for IPW 2026
Visit Lauderdale is already working intensively on the organization of IPW 2026, the most important tourism trade show in the United States, which will be hosted in the city. “We have ongoing meetings with different departments and municipalities to ensure a top-tier event. At the 2025 IPW in Chicago, we will bring over 40 representatives, including mayors and hoteliers, to promote what we will offer in 2026,” Etchevers revealed.
Fort Lauderdale’s waterfront convention center will complete its renovation and expansion by late 2025, offering spectacular views and world-class infrastructure. Additionally, the new OMNI hotel will open with 800 rooms, becoming a key accommodation option for IPW.
With these developments, Visit Lauderdale reaffirms its commitment to the Colombian market and its position as a leading destination for luxury tourism, shopping, and cruises.
