Delta Jet Overturns on Toronto Runway Amid Snowstorm, All 80 Aboard Survive
TORONTO, Canada — A Delta Air Lines flight from Minneapolis to Toronto overturned upon landing at Toronto Pearson Airport on Monday, leaving passengers in shock but miraculously with no fatalities. The incident, which occurred at 2:15 p.m., resulted in 18 injuries, but all were reported as minor.
The aircraft, a Mitsubishi CRJ-900LR, landed amid heavy snowfall and wind gusts of up to 40 mph (65 kph). While communications between the control tower and the pilots were normal before landing, it remains unclear what caused the jet to flip over.
Passenger Peter Carlson, who was en route to a paramedics conference, described the landing as “very forceful”, saying he found himself upside down, still strapped in after impact. Emergency teams responded within minutes, swiftly evacuating passengers.
Delta CEO Ed Bastian expressed relief over the outcome, stating, “The hearts of the entire global Delta family are with those affected.”
This marks North America’s fourth major aviation incident in three weeks, raising renewed concerns over flight safety amid harsh winter conditions.
