The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) is reinforcing the need for sustainable practices across the global tourism sector. Julia Simpson, WTTC President & CEO, emphasized the crucial role of implementing Net Positive and Nature Positive strategies to ensure long-term sustainability in the industry.

A Global Industry Dependent on Nature

Simpson highlighted that no other sector reaches as many destinations as travel and tourism, spanning from the smallest islands to the most remote rainforests. She stressed that tourism heavily relies on natural resources, making sustainability a fundamental responsibility.

"Net Positive Hospitality means we can better protect the planet that allows us to offer such incredible experiences," Simpson stated.

Collaborative Efforts for a Sustainable Future

In 2022, WTTC formed a strategic partnership aimed at promoting sustainable tourism. This collaboration focuses on the Pathway to Net Positive Hospitality and the Hotel Sustainability Basics, aligning efforts across the hospitality sector.

Additionally, WTTC has partnered with UN Tourism to launch the Nature Positive Tourism Partnership, an initiative designed to halt and reverse biodiversity loss by 2030.

With these efforts, WTTC continues to lead the way in making the travel and tourism industry a force for environmental preservation and positive change.
