Broward County Convention Center Expansion Positions Fort Lauderdale as a Premier Global Meetings Destination
The recently expanded Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale is emerging as one of the most impressive waterfront meeting and convention venues in the United States. Following a major redevelopment project valued at approximately $1.3 billion, the facility now offers more than 1.2 million square feet of total meeting, exhibition and convention space, significantly enhancing the region’s capacity to host large-scale international events, trade shows and tourism industry gatherings.
New photos and videos circulating after recent site visits highlight the striking design and strategic location of the complex along the Intracoastal Waterway, near Port Everglades. From inside the venue, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of yachts, cruise ships and the dynamic maritime activity that defines Fort Lauderdale’s waterfront. The convention center’s proximity to marinas, beaches and the city’s vibrant tourism district makes it an especially attractive location for global meetings and events tied to the travel industry.
The expansion introduced a spectacular 65,000-square-foot waterfront ballroom, modernized exhibition halls, flexible meeting rooms and an expansive outdoor plaza spanning several acres designed for networking events and open-air receptions. The complex is also connected to the new Omni Fort Lauderdale Hotel, an 800-room headquarters hotel that will allow event organizers to host major conventions with integrated accommodations and meeting facilities in a single campus environment.
Industry observers note that the transformation of the Broward County Convention Center strengthens Fort Lauderdale’s position as a leading destination for meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE). The venue is expected to play a key role in hosting major tourism events, including industry gatherings connected to IPW, widely considered the most important inbound travel trade show in the United States. With state-of-the-art infrastructure, waterfront views and direct access to international transportation hubs such as Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, the convention center is now positioned to attract global conventions and reinforce the city’s reputation as a dynamic hub for tourism and business events.
