Javier Milei, the president-elect of Argentina, already has more than half of his Cabinet, but the most important positions are still pending. He would leave only 8 ministries, but has not yet announced the appointments for Economy and Security. Nicolás Posse is set to become the Chief of Staff, Diana Mondino for Foreign Affairs, and Guillermo Francos is a potential candidate for the Interior

On a historic day for Argentine politics, Javier Milei, leader of La Libertad Avanza (LLA), becomes the president-elect of the country after obtaining 55.7% of the votes in the 2023 elections, surpassing Sergio Massa, who garnered 44.3%. This result marks a milestone as Milei, representative of libertarian thought, gains access to the presidency, challenging established political structures.

This Monday, Milei announced that he will meet with the current president, Alberto Fernández, to coordinate the transition for the handover scheduled for December 10. Fernández congratulated Milei and expressed his desire for a smooth transition to minimize impacts on the population amid economic conditions and market movements.

Regarding economic policies, Milei reaffirmed his intention to end inflation, though he acknowledged that this process would take approximately two years. He also mentioned the possible closure of the Central Bank, although immediate dollarization is uncertain. The president-elect avoided confirming who would occupy the position of Minister of Economy in his government.

After his victory, Milei met with former president Mauricio Macri and the former candidate Patricia Bullrich, who played a crucial role in his campaign. This alliance was solidified after both were eliminated from the second electoral round in October.

The United States Ambassador to Argentina, Marc Stanley, congratulated Milei on his triumph, highlighting the potential for significant change in the country's history after decades of decline. However, he also expressed concern about the current economic situation and the need to take responsibility.

In statements to various media outlets, Milei described the "delicate macroeconomic situation" of the country and criticized the policies of the current Minister of Economy. He also mentioned the responsibility of the political class in the necessary adjustment, emphasizing that his government will seek to prevent it from falling on the population.

The president-elect emphasized the importance of freedom and mentioned the support received from younger segments of the population. Despite criticisms and what he considers "the dirtiest campaign in humanity," Milei stated that his team is working on a transition plan to minimize social and economic impacts.

Regarding the Central Bank, Milei announced that they will dialogue with an authority designated by the Ministry of Economy and will meet with the current head of the institution, Miguel Ángel Pesce. Regarding inflation, he indicated that, based on empirical evidence, cutting monetary emission will take between 18 and 24 months to reduce the variable to international levels.

The president-elect preferred not to reveal the name of his future Minister of Economy and highlighted the need to inform the population about the situation inherited on December 10. In this context, Milei called for calm and announced the incorporation of distinguished professionals to rebuild the country's economic situation. According to his words, Argentina is in an extremely delicate situation, but he trusts in overcoming the challenges with the support of his team.
