WTTC Brings Together Global Leaders for Historic Leadership Cruise Through the Suez Canal
World Travel & Tourism Council is hosting an exclusive Leadership Cruise through the Suez Canal, bringing together more than 300 global leaders from the public and private sectors to discuss tourism resilience, recovery, and future growth.
The event, held in Egypt, is supported by the Egyptian government and sponsored by major tourism and cruise industry partners, including Crystal Cruises and Abercrombie & Kent.
Gloria Guevara highlighted Egypt as a strong example of tourism resilience, noting that the sector contributed USD 34.4 billion to the country’s economy in 2025 and welcomed 19 million international visitors.
The Leadership Cruise also focuses on Egypt’s major tourism infrastructure investments, including hotel expansion, airport development, high-speed rail projects, and the recent opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum.
According to the latest WTTC data, the global Travel & Tourism sector contributed USD 11.6 trillion to world GDP in 2025 and supported 366 million jobs worldwide, reinforcing its role as one of the leading drivers of the global economy.
