U.S. President Donald Trump has escalated tensions with Iran, warning that military action could resume if upcoming negotiations fail, as American envoys prepare to travel to Pakistan for a new round of talks.

Trump confirmed that senior representatives, including Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, will arrive in Islamabad to engage with Iranian officials.

Strait of Hormuz at the center of tensions

The U.S. president accused Iran of violating the ceasefire through actions in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil shipping route.

According to Washington, Tehran has again restricted maritime traffic, raising concerns over global energy security.

Talks remain fragile. Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stated that both sides are still “far from a final agreement,” while regional officials acknowledged that major disagreements persist.

Sources indicate that Iran’s delegation, led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, is expected to arrive in Pakistan to continue discussions.

Both sides are reportedly working toward a symbolic extension of the current two-week ceasefire, which is set to expire soon.

There is also speculation about a potential high-level meeting between Trump and Iran’s president in Islamabad, which would represent a significant diplomatic breakthrough.

The negotiations come amid heightened geopolitical tensions, with implications not only for Middle East stability but also for global energy markets.

The outcome of the talks could define the next phase of U.S.-Iran relations.
