In a video message to industry stakeholders, the Minister stressed that the country’s objective is not simply to expand, but to pursue smart, balanced and inclusive growth. “Our focus for 2026 is not simply expansion, but smart, balanced and inclusive development; growth that protects our natural environment, strengthens our communities, and delivers long-term value for the people of Antigua and Barbuda,” he said.

Key priorities include continued hotel and resort development, with projects such as the Marriott Resort, Moon Gate Development, Nikki Beach Resort and Spa, and the Nobu Hotel set to enhance capacity, raise quality standards and strengthen the destination’s international brand presence.

Cruise tourism remains a central pillar of the strategy, supported by the opening of the new cruise terminal, which is expected to increase port calls while expanding opportunities for local businesses and creative industries.

Air connectivity will continue to underpin tourism growth, with the US$50 million runway rehabilitation project at V. C. Bird International Airport scheduled for completion in September 2026, a key milestone for supporting long-term traffic growth and competitiveness.

Sustainability, MICE tourism and workforce development also remain core priorities, reinforcing Antigua and Barbuda’s positioning as a competitive, resilient and people-focused destination. The Minister reassured tourism stakeholders that the country remains open for business and open to the world, and thanked partners for their commitment throughout 2025, emphasizing that collaboration will be essential to build a more inclusive and sustainable tourism sector.
