U.S. President Donald Trump has sparked fresh international controversy after posting Artificial Intelligence–generated images on his social media platform Truth Social depicting Greenland and Canada as part of the United States.

One image shows Trump planting an American flag on Greenland alongside senior officials, with a sign labeling the island as “U.S. territory” in 2026. Another portrays Canada draped in the Stars and Stripes as Trump meets with European leaders. While clearly fabricated, the visuals send an unmistakable political message.

Analysts argue that Trump is using AI-generated imagery as a strategic communication tool to normalize expansionist ambitions and frame them as inevitable, bypassing traditional diplomatic norms.

European officials and media outlets reacted with alarm, warning that such visual disinformation risks inflaming geopolitical tensions at a time of already fragile transatlantic relations.
