Belize highlights its tourism offerings and regional integration at CATM 2025
San Pedro Sula, Honduras – During the 21st edition of the Central America Travel Market (CATM 2025), Belize reaffirmed its commitment to promoting regional tourism and creating multi-destination experiences in Central America. Efrén Pérez, President of the National Chamber of Tourism of Belize and Pro Tempore President of the Federation of Tourism Chambers of Central America (FEDECATUR), spoke with ABC MUNDIAL about the opportunities his country and the region offer.
“We are bringing a variety of hoteliers and tour operators to make connections not only regionally, but also to attract international wholesalers to Belize,” Pérez explained. “It is essential to highlight the diversity of resources we have: the Blue Hole, archaeological sites, adventure trails, and diving, which is one of Belize’s main attractions. All of this complements what is offered across Central America.”
Central America as a multi-destination
Pérez emphasized the advantage of each country in the region offering a distinctive and complementary tourism product:
“Each country offers something different, which combined allows travelers to enjoy a multi-destination itinerary of up to 15 days, with unique cultural, gastronomic, and natural experiences. This promotes regional tourism and strengthens the Central America brand,” he highlighted.
Focus on adventure and coastal tourism
Regarding Belize’s specific offerings, the national chamber president noted:
“Most tourists visiting Belize are looking for diving, especially at the Blue Hole and the Mesoamerican Reef, but we also want them to enjoy the archaeological sites, the coast, and the country’s cultural and gastronomic richness. My recommendation for travelers is to start inland with adventure and trails, and then move to the coast to experience the country fully.”
Boosting regional tourism
Through its participation in CATM 2025, Belize reinforces its position as a key destination within Central America’s multi-destination offering, promoting both natural and cultural wealth and fostering regional integration to attract international tourists.
