Honduras Showcases Its Full Tourism Potential as Host Country of Central America Travel Market 2025
Honduras is unveiling its natural, cultural, and adventure treasures as it welcomes international tour operators and media to the country for Centroamérica Travel Market 2025 (CATM 2025). The event brings together wholesalers from Europe, North America, and South America, along with journalists and content creators from across Central America, for a series of immersive pre-tours designed to showcase the authenticity and diversity of the “five-star country.”
Organized by Instituto Hondureño de Turismo (IHT), in partnership with Cámara Nacional de Turismo de Honduras (CANATURH) and Agencia de Promoción Turística de Centroamérica (CATA), the pre-tours highlight more than 15 iconic destinations, including Parque Nacional Cerro Azul Meámbar (PANACAM), Lago de Yojoa, Pulhapanzak, Copán Ruinas, Roatán, La Ceiba, Utila, Santa Rosa de Copán, Tela, Omoa, Rawacala Natural Reserve, Fortaleza San Fernando de Omoa, La Esperanza, Gracias, Comayagua, Laguna de Chiligatoro, Gumbalimba Park, and Anthony’s Key Resort, among others.
These experiences are part of Honduras’ tourism promotion and marketing strategy, designed to position the country on the global stage through authentic experiences that highlight its archaeological heritage, lush nature, and vibrant culture—key elements that distinguish Honduras as a five-star destination in the region.
One of the groups —which includes international wholesalers and the editorial team of ABC MUNDIAL— explored two emblematic sites that combine sustainability, local production, and immersive tourism: Luna del Puente and Bioparque Paradise in the Lago de Yojoa region.
Luna del Puente is a private nature reserve near Santa Cruz de Yojoa. Spanning 41 hectares with 70% forest cover, this family-run project was declared a private reserve in 2015. Visitors can discover artisanal cacao production, walk the “Cacao Ecotourism Route,” enjoy handcrafted chocolate products, and experience birdwatching with more than 260 species in the area, along with forest trails for scenic hikes.
Bioparque Paradise, located in Los Naranjos village, stands out for its eco-tourism and conservation focus. Its highlight is the stunning Poza Azul, a turquoise-blue natural pool considered an ancestral ceremonial site of the Lenca culture. The park combines natural trails with spaces for relaxation and local cacao production, offering travelers a genuine taste of the region.
These immersive experiences reflect Honduras’ commitment to sustainable tourism and product diversification, adding cultural and natural value for international travelers.
This familiarization phase precedes the B2B business meetings of CATM 2025, scheduled for October 21–San Pedro Sula. The city’s strategic location allows visitors easy access to multiple destinations across the country, reinforcing Honduras’ role as a key tourism hub in Central America.
After the event, participants will join post-tours in other Central American countries, highlighting regional complementarity and the opportunity to enjoy unique experiences across multiple destinations in a single trip.
The organization of CATM 2025 involves CATA, IHT, CANATURH, and Federación de Cámaras de Turismo de Centroamérica (FEDECATURH), with support from strategic partners such as Televicentro, Avianca, Tropic Air, TAG Airlines, Buro de Convenciones de San Pedro Sula, Instituto Hondureño del Café (IHCAFE), and the Alcaldía Municipal de San Pedro Sula.
CATM is recognized as the region’s leading tourism promotion and business platform. This year’s edition expects more than 100 international wholesalers from Europe, North America, Asia, and South America, around 150 regional exhibitors, over 2,000 business meetings, and coverage from more than 50 international media outlets.
With this dynamic showcase, Honduras is positioning itself not only as a destination of nature, history, and culture but also as a key player in Central America’s regional tourism strategy.
