Royal Caribbean’s Icon Class reached another milestone as the Legend of the Seas officially touched water for the first time at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Turku, Finland. The ship will continue construction before its highly anticipated debut in August 2026.

The float-out marked a key engineering achievement, as the dry dock was flooded overnight in a nearly 12-hour process until the vessel moved to the outfitting pier.

As the third ship in the groundbreaking Icon Class, Legend of the Seas is set to deliver bold new family vacation experiences across eight neighborhoods. Highlights will include the adrenaline-pumping Category 6 waterpark and Crown’s Edge, an attraction that blends a skywalk, ropes course, and thrilling ride. Families will also enjoy unparalleled dining, relaxation, and entertainment options, with more to be announced soon.

Legend’s inaugural season will begin in Europe with seven-night Western Mediterranean cruises in summer 2026. In November, the ship will make its grand Caribbean debut, offering six-night Western Caribbean and eight-night Southern Caribbean itineraries, including visits to Royal Caribbean’s award-winning private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas.

Sustainability will also be at the core of the new ship. Legend will become the fourth Royal Caribbean vessel powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) and will feature industry-leading environmental programs such as waste heat recovery systems and shore power connection. These initiatives move Royal Caribbean Group closer to its goal of achieving a net-zero cruise ship by 2035.
