As the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) wrapped up its 2024 Global Summit in Perth, Australia, the spotlight shifted to the future: the 2025 Global Summit will be held in the iconic city of Rome, Italy. This marks the first time the summit will take place in the Eternal City, a destination renowned for its rich history and cultural significance.

Set for late 2025, the 25th edition of this prestigious event will be organized in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Tourism. Bringing together leaders from the travel and tourism sector, the summit will focus on addressing the industry's challenges and driving innovative solutions for a sustainable future.

WTTC President & CEO, Julia Simpson, expressed her excitement about the upcoming summit: "History shows that all roads lead to Rome, and in 2025, that’s certainly true as we head to a global city steeped in history, yet vibrantly forward-looking."

Italian Minister of Tourism, Daniela Santanchè, shared her enthusiasm, stating, "Hosting the WTTC Global Summit is a significant honor for Italy. We look forward to welcoming global leaders to Rome, where tradition meets innovation, setting the stage for shaping the future of travel and tourism."

The 2024 summit in Perth was a grand success, gathering nearly 800 delegates from over 50 countries. It featured key insights from influential figures like John Kerry and Robert Irwin, addressing crucial topics such as environmental challenges and the evolving role of tourism.

The event also showcased the latest Environmental & Social Research (ESR) data, highlighting a notable reduction in the sector's climate footprint even as its economic contribution to global GDP surged back to near pre-pandemic levels.

The stage is now set for Rome to continue the conversation in 2025, as the world’s travel industry leaders converge to explore the intersection of cultural heritage, sustainability, and tourism innovation in one of the world's most enchanting cities.
