Priyanka Chopra Featured in Victoria's Secret's New Campaign as Company Bids Farewell to Angels

Victoria's Secret has bid farewell to its popular Angels supermodels who graced the runway in extravagant ensembles adorned with feathers and rhinestones for years. In a notable shift, the American lingerie company has introduced a campaign spotlighting seven women celebrated for their accomplishments, including global icon Priyanka Chopra.

Joining Chopra in the groundbreaking campaign are soccer star Megan Rapinoe, model and advocate Paloma Essler, freestyle skier Eileen Gu, transgender model Valentina Sampaio, model and South Sudanese refugee Adut Akech, and photographer Amanda de Cadenet, as reported by The New York Times. Victoria's Secret took to social media to unveil its new initiative, stating, "These extraordinary partners, with their unique backgrounds, interests, and passions, will collaborate with us to create revolutionary product collections, compelling and inspiring content, new internal associate programs, and rally support for causes vital to women."

Following a hiatus of several years, Victoria's Secret recently hosted a reimagined version of its iconic fashion show, now dubbed the "World Tour," at the Manhattan Center in New York City. At the event, Priyanka Chopra-Jonas turned heads with her impeccable style.

Walking the pink carpet, Chopra-Jonas donned a sheer, sequined Giambattista Valli gown featuring a striking keyhole cutout, placing her matching lingerie set at the forefront of her ensemble. Beneath the floor-sweeping column dress, the actress paired a petite black triangle bra with high-waisted black briefs, while black peep-toe platform heels completed the look. Cinching her nude dress with a metallic belt at the waist, Chopra-Jonas accessorized with silver rings and tiny hoop earrings.

The report indicates that these seven women, collectively known as the VS Collective, aim to redefine the concept of "sexy" for Victoria's Secret. In addition to appearing in advertisements, members will advise the brand and promote Victoria's Secret on social media.

"When the world was changing, we were too slow to respond. We needed to stop being about what men want and to be about what women want," Martin Waters, former head of Victoria's Secret's international business and current chief executive of the brand, shared with The New York Times.

Furthermore, Victoria's Secret is set to separate from L Brands and Bath & Body Works, transitioning into its own public company. The move comes as the company strives to revamp its business strategy, overhaul fashion offerings, and reimagine store designs, as reported by the Associated Press.

While Victoria's Secret has long been associated with its "sexy style," consumer preferences have shifted towards more comfortable options, particularly amidst the COVID-19 pandemic when many individuals opted for loungewear while spending time at home during lockdowns.
