The Icon of the Seas sails in the Caribbean as the largest cruise ship in the world
Dream come true for Royal Caribbean: "The Icon of the Seas arrives to change the way we all are going to sail and travel on a cruise," said Alberto Muñoz, Vice President of Royal Caribbean for Latin America.
The Icon of the Seas, the world's largest cruise ship, is now a reality and the jewel of Royal Caribbean. These days, it sails from Miami to its private island in the Bahamas on short trips that will soon give way to 7-day journeys through the Caribbean. This majestic ship, weighing 250,800 tons and measuring 365 meters in length, features the visible AquaDome, a glass and steel structure larger than any ever raised on a cruise ship, with seven pools and six record-breaking water slides.
The Icon of the Seas is a floating marvel with 20 decks, 8 neighborhoods, over 40 options for dining, drinking, and having fun, 2,805 cabins, and a capacity for 5,610 guests in double occupancy (maximum 7,600). Additionally, it offers 7 pools, 9 hot tubs, 6 unprecedented water slides, and accommodates a crew of 2,350 people. As if that weren't enough, Royal Caribbean named Lionel Messi as the "official icon" of the Icon of the Seas, a sort of godfather of the world's largest cruise ship.
The comprehensive programming of the Icon features eight neighborhoods with adrenaline-filled thrills, unparalleled relaxation options, over 40 dining and drinking choices, and cutting-edge entertainment in air, ice, water, and theater. Furthermore, it offers 28 different accommodation options, including the new Ultimate Family Townhouse with three levels.
Among the new neighborhoods, highlights include:
- Thrill Island: Center of excitement with the largest water park at sea, Crown's Edge, FlowRider simulator, Lost Dunes mini-golf, and places to enjoy relaxed snacks at Basecamp and Desserted.
- Chill Island: A three-deck paradise with four of the seven pools, including Swim & Tonic, Royal Bay, Cloud 17, and the serene Cove pool. It offers poolside places for drinks and fast food.
- Surfside: The first neighborhood designed for young families with options to splash around and new exclusive gastronomic choices like Surfside Eatery and Pier 7.
- AquaDome: A daytime oasis of tranquility and a vibrant nighttime destination with a next-level AquaTheater and gastronomic options like AquaDome Market and Rye & Bean.
- The Hideaway: A neighborhood located 135 feet above the ocean, combining the vibes of beach clubs with the first suspended infinity pool at sea.
The list of neighborhoods is completed with Royal Promenade, Central Park, and Suite Neighborhood, each offering unique experiences. Icon of the Seas promises to be a dream come true for travelers eager for new experiences at sea. "The Icon of the Seas arrives to change the way we all are going to sail and travel on a cruise," exclaimed Alberto Muñoz, Vice President of Royal Caribbean for Latin America.
