Indian-American Biotech Entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy Considered for Vice-President by Donald Trump in 2024
Indian-American biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy is among the names being considered by former US President Donald Trump as a potential running mate for the Vice-President position in the 2024 presidential elections.
After dropping out of the Republican race for the White House, Ramaswamy publicly endorsed Trump for President. During a Fox News town hall event, Trump mentioned Ramaswamy among six possible choices for his vice-presidential shortlist, which also includes prominent figures like South Carolina Senator Tim Scott, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, former Hawaii Representative Tulsi Gabbard, Florida Representative Byron Donalds, and South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem.
Ramaswamy's endorsement of Trump followed his own exit from the presidential race earlier in January. Despite his initial bid for the Republican nomination, Ramaswamy threw his support behind Trump after a disappointing performance in the Iowa caucuses.
While Trump praised all the individuals on his shortlist, he particularly highlighted Tim Scott, acknowledging his strong support during the event. However, Trump's consideration of Ron DeSantis raised eyebrows due to their previous contentious relationship, although DeSantis has since endorsed Trump.
Notably absent from Trump's shortlist is Indian-American Nikki Haley, who continues her presidential campaign despite trailing behind Trump in the South Carolina primary.
As speculation continues to swirl around Trump's potential running mate, Ramaswamy's inclusion in the shortlist reflects the diversity of candidates under consideration for the Vice-President role in the upcoming elections.
