Irán exige un alto el fuego en Líbano y la liberación de sus activos antes de negociar con EE.UU.

Peace talks between the United States and Iran scheduled for Saturday in Pakistan were thrown into doubt on Friday after Tehran formally demanded two conditions before agreeing to participate: an immediate ceasefire in Lebanon and the release of frozen Iranian assets.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said negotiations “cannot begin” until Washington fulfills both requirements.

According to Tehran, Israeli strikes against Hezbollah positions in Lebanon violate the fragile two-week ceasefire reached this week between the United States and Iran. Iran argues that the truce should also apply to Lebanon, a claim rejected by both Washington and Israel.

Iranian officials also said that billions of dollars in Iranian assets frozen abroad under international sanctions must be released before any negotiations can move forward.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump warned that if no peace agreement is reached this weekend, Washington is prepared to renew and intensify strikes on Iran. The White House also criticized Tehran for again restricting shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

At the same time, U.S. Vice President JD Vance issued a stern warning before leaving for Pakistan, saying Iran must not “mock us” during the talks. Vance is expected to lead the American delegation in Islamabad.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel wants to hold direct talks with Lebanon regarding border security and the disarmament of Hezbollah. A diplomatic source said the Lebanese prime minister is expected to travel to Washington in the coming days.

Pakistani authorities continued preparations in Islamabad on Friday, deploying troops and tightening security across the capital ahead of the planned negotiations. However, Iranian media close to the government reported that Tehran’s delegation had not yet departed for Pakistan.
