TURKU, FINLAND – Royal Caribbean marked a major milestone with the first steel cut of the fifth ship in its record-breaking Icon Class, officially launching construction of a new vacation experience set to debut in 2028.

The traditional steel-cutting ceremony took place at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland, bringing together leaders and partners from Royal Caribbean and Meyer Turku to celebrate the start of a multi-year construction journey involving thousands of experts in ship design, naval engineering and architecture.

The new vessel will carry forward the Icon Class legacy of delivering what Royal Caribbean describes as the world’s best family vacations, blending beach getaways, resort-style relaxation and theme-park-level thrills at sea.

The fifth Icon Class ship joins a growing lineup that includes Legend of the Seas, scheduled to debut in Europe in July 2026, and a fourth Icon Class ship arriving in 2027, with its name to be announced. Royal Caribbean has also secured options for a sixth and seventh Icon Class vessel.

Additional details about the fifth ship will be revealed at a later date.
