Washington, D.C. – November 18, 2025. In a move aimed at streamlining travel for millions of international football fans, U.S. President Donald Trump announced a new fast-track visa program for visitors attending the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States. The initiative, known as the FIFA Prioritized Appointment Scheduling System — or the “FIFA pass” — will grant World Cup ticket holders priority access to visa interview appointments at U.S. embassies worldwide.

The announcement was made during an Oval Office appearance with FIFA President Gianni Infantino, who said the organization expects between 5 and 10 million international visitors to travel to the U.S. for the tournament. Infantino praised the program, noting that it would help ensure “legitimate football fans can come and attend the World Cup in the best possible conditions.”

Trump emphasized that his administration is committed to delivering “the greatest World Cup ever,” adding that the Departments of State and Homeland Security are working “tirelessly” to expedite processing while maintaining strict security protocols.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio provided further details, revealing that more than 400 additional consular officers have been deployed globally to handle World Cup–related visa demand, doubling staff numbers in several countries. Rubio said the new system has already reduced wait times significantly, with “about 80 percent of the world now able to get an appointment within 60 days.”

However, Rubio cautioned ticket holders that the FIFA pass is not a visa, but a tool for expedited scheduling. “Your ticket doesn’t guarantee admission to the U.S. It guarantees you a faster appointment. You still undergo the same vetting as everyone else,” he said.

He urged fans to apply as soon as they secure game tickets: “Don’t wait until the last minute. If you intend to come to the games, apply now.”

The 2026 World Cup, co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico, is expected to be the largest edition in history, with billions of viewers and unprecedented global attention.
