Royal Caribbean has officially welcomed Star of the Seas, the highly anticipated second ship of the Icon Class, in a star-studded ceremony at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland. With more than 1,250 crew members and partners in attendance, the handover marks the completion of nearly two years of construction and the beginning of a bold chapter in family cruising.
Set to debut in August 2025 from Port Canaveral (Orlando), Florida, Star of the Seas promises a revolutionary vacation experience, combining cutting-edge technology, immersive design, and unforgettable adventures for travelers of all ages.
“Star of the Seas is a bold step into the future of vacationing,” said Jason Liberty, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group. “This ship embodies the innovation and dedication of our teams and partners at Meyer Turku, and we're proud to lead the industry toward a more sustainable, extraordinary cruising experience.”
A Floating City of Experiences
Starting in August, Star of the Seas will sail seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries, visiting top-rated destinations including Perfect Day at CocoCay, Royal Caribbean’s award-winning private island in The Bahamas.
The ship features eight signature neighborhoods, each offering a distinct atmosphere and entertainment:
- Thrill Island: Home to the largest waterpark at sea, featuring record-breaking waterslides, Crown’s Edge aerial thrill walk, and rock climbing.
- Chill Island: A tropical three-deck oasis with pools, DJs, and lively bars like Swim & Tonic and The Lime & Coconut.
- Surfside: A family-focused haven with splash zones, baby pools, and dining for all ages.
- AquaDome: Offering panoramic ocean views, high-tech aqua shows, and unique eateries.
- The Hideaway: An adults-only sanctuary 40 meters above the sea with an infinity pool and DJ-led vibes.
Guests will also enjoy reimagined favorites like Royal Promenade, Central Park with 30,500 real plants, and elevated luxury at the Suite Neighborhood.
A Sustainable Future at Sea
Star of the Seas is the third Royal Caribbean ship powered by Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and is equipped with industry-leading environmental technologies, including waste heat recovery and shore power systems. The company is committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2035, with Legend of the Seas as the next LNG-powered Icon Class ship arriving in 2026.
