Chicago, USA – On the final day of IPW 2025, as tradition dictates, the host destination for the following year took center stage with an unforgettable celebration for the international press. With a vibrant atmosphere, tropical cocktails, dancers, live music, and a setup that instantly transported guests to the white sands and turquoise waters of the Atlantic, Fort Lauderdale introduced itself as the official host of IPW 2026.

Stacy Ritter, President and CEO of Visit Lauderdale, shared details about the exciting plans and surprises awaiting the global travel industry from May 17 to 21, 2026, when this charming coastal Florida city becomes the epicenter of inbound tourism.

“I don’t want to give away all the surprises, but everyone will get to see the beach,” said Ritter with a smile in a relaxed conversation with ABC MUNDIAL. “You’ll have the chance to explore our eight beach cities, each with its own vibe—from chic and sophisticated to laid-back and relaxed. Please, bring sneakers and flip-flops—no heels. Flip-flops are our official footwear in Fort Lauderdale.”

A destination full of flavor, color, and promise

Known as the “Venice of the Americas” and recognized globally as the yachting capital of the world, Fort Lauderdale wants IPW 2026 attendees to do more than business—it wants them to live a fully immersive experience. Ritter highlighted that the event will take place at the Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center, right on the city’s iconic canals and just a few miles from the beach.

“We are finishing a $1.2 billion expansion project that began in 2020. The brand-new Omni Hotel, featuring 801 rooms and direct access to the convention center, is opening this September,” she added. “It will have floor-to-ceiling views of the Intracoastal Waterway and will be an amazing space for our visitors.”

Fort Lauderdale will also play a key role in the FIFA World Cup 2026, offering accommodations for many fans and professionals. “They’ll stay with us and have an unforgettable experience,” Ritter predicted.

A global icon at home

Naturally, Lionel Messi’s name came up. “Messi lives in Fort Lauderdale, and we absolutely adore him,” Ritter beamed. “He’s put us on the map—of course we love him!” The soccer legend has become part of the destination’s charm and a symbol of its growing global profile.

Strategic presence in Chicago

Fort Lauderdale’s campaign at IPW 2025 went beyond a standout booth. The destination claimed strategic visibility across McCormick Place, including lunch areas and key access points, ensuring its image as a vibrant, connected, and world-class destination stayed top of mind among the 5,000+ delegates attending from around the world.

With global air connectivity, a growing hotel offering, rich gastronomy, culture, shopping, entertainment, and sports, Fort Lauderdale promises an unforgettable IPW 2026. And as Ritter assured, all roads will lead to the beach.
