CHICAGO, USA – With a spirited media brunch at the iconic Wrigley Field, Chicago officially launched IPW 2025, the most important international inbound travel trade show in the United States. Tourism leaders, government officials and journalists from over 60 countries gathered to open a crucial week for global travel.

Geoff Freeman, U.S. Travel Association President and CEO, emphasized IPW’s economic impact:

“This week alone will help generate more than 11 million additional visitors to the U.S., translating to approximately $26 billion in future travel spending.”

He praised the media’s role:

“Thank you for telling the stories of this country and showing all it has to offer.”

Mayor Brandon Johnson welcomed attendees with pride:

“Chicago has been named the best big city in the U.S. by Condé Nast Traveler readers for eight years in a row. And after this week, I know you’ll vote for us a ninth time.”

He spotlighted the city’s rich communities and natural beauty:

“Twenty percent of the world’s fresh water is in our front yard,” he said, referring to Lake Michigan.
“Whatever neighborhood you visit, whatever dish you taste — and believe me, there’s no food scene like Chicago’s — you’ll discover a vibrant, inclusive and welcoming city.”

Kristen Reynolds, new President & CEO of Choose Chicago, added:

“I’ve been in this role for just five weeks, so I can’t take all the credit — but I can tell you that Chicago is more than sights and experiences: it’s a warm, united community.”

Fred Dixon, President & CEO of Brand USA, closed with a message to the press:

“Meaningful stories create meaningful travel. Through your work, you bring the unique spirit of the U.S. to life — and cities like Chicago.”

He teased key future milestones: the Route 66 Centennial, FIFA World Cup, and America’s 250th anniversary:

“From sports and culture to food and nature, every corner of the U.S. has a story waiting to be told.”

As the sun shone over Wrigley Field, one message was clear: Chicago is ready to host the world — and to win it over.
