Jamaica strengthens its presence in Argentina and announces a promising future for tourism
Buenos Aires was the venue for the recent presentation of the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB), where important updates for the Argentine and Latin American markets were highlighted. During the event, Donovan White, Director of Tourism for Jamaica, reaffirmed the relevance of Argentina as the leading market for travelers to the island within Latin America and expressed his satisfaction with the continuous growth of air connectivity between both destinations.
"The Argentine market is extremely important for our group in Latin America and South America. Argentina has always been our number one market in the region, and we are very happy to see growth in the number of visitors once again. Additionally, we expect to announce new air routes very soon that will further strengthen connectivity," White said in an exclusive interview.
A Multi-Million Dollar Investment in Tourism Infrastructure
The Government of Jamaica has allocated a historic investment of 16 billion dollars for the 2025-2026 period with the aim of improving the efficiency of its tourism industry, boosting growth, and consolidating the island as a global leader in tourism. This investment will fund the construction of a new airport terminal in Montego Bay, as well as plans for an international airport in Negril, two key projects to improve access and mobility for visitors.
Additionally, White highlighted the development of new hotel proposals aimed at responding to growing tourism demand. "We are experiencing a record-breaking 2025 with 1.6 million airline seats, an unprecedented figure. Future hotel expansions at properties like Princess Resorts and Grand Palladium will allow us to meet this high demand, while the modernization of our airport and road infrastructure will make traveling to Jamaica a smoother experience than ever," he explained.
Technological Innovation and Event Season
In an effort to enhance the visitor experience, the Jamaica Tourist Board has incorporated artificial intelligence (AI) into its traveler support strategy. The Jamaica Travel Virtual Specialist, available 24/7 on its website, will allow tourists to plan their stay with personalized recommendations and real-time assistance, all while maintaining the warm hospitality that distinguishes Jamaica.
This growth in infrastructure and technology is complemented by an intense event calendar that positions Jamaica as a vibrant destination year-round. Under the concept of "Season of Excitement," the island will offer a series of top-tier cultural and sporting events, including:
- Grand Slam Track (April 4-6): A tournament that will bring together international athletics stars.
- Jamaica Carnival (April 21-28): A music, dance, and color spectacle that attracts thousands of visitors.
- Reggae Sumfest (Third weekend of July): The world’s largest reggae festival, with 31 years of history, continuing to grow year after year.
Argentina, a Key Market for Jamaica
Promotion efforts in Argentina have paid off, with a 24% increase in the number of Argentine tourists visiting Jamaica in 2024. This growth has been driven by improved air connectivity and collaboration with major hotel chains such as RIU Hotels, Decameron Hotels, Inclusive Collection, Iberostar Rose Hall, and Bahía Príncipe Hotels, along with support from Copa Airlines in connecting the island.
With a multi-million dollar investment, technological advancements, and a world-class event lineup, Jamaica is reinforcing its commitment to tourism and the Argentine market, solidifying its place as an unmissable destination in the Caribbean.
