The U.S. Travel Association has expressed strong support for the nomination of Bryan Bedford, CEO of Republic Airways, to lead the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The association highlighted his extensive experience in aviation, stating that Bedford is well-equipped to guide the FAA through a critical period of modernization.

Geoff Freeman, President and CEO of U.S. Travel, praised Bedford as an exceptional candidate for the role, emphasizing his ability to navigate the FAA through its ongoing transformation. "Bedford is an outstanding candidate to lead the FAA through this historic transformation and work with the administration to usher in a 'Golden Age of Travel,'" Freeman said.

On Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump officially announced Bedford's appointment to the position, following the resignation of the former FAA administrator, Mike Whitaker, on January 20. Since then, Chris Rocheleau has been serving as the acting FAA administrator.

Bedford has served as President and CEO of Republic Airways since 1999. His leadership and deep understanding of the airline industry have earned him praise from industry leaders. United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby expressed confidence in Bedford’s ability to lead the FAA at this crucial time. “Having worked with Bryan Bedford for two decades, I have total confidence in his ability to lead the FAA at this critical time,” Kirby remarked.

Nick Calio, CEO of Airlines for America, added that Bedford understands the importance of strong collaboration between the FAA and airspace operators of all sizes.

The U.S. Travel Association also lauded the appointment, highlighting Bedford’s 30 years of experience in aviation, including as both a pilot and the leader of Republic Airways. Freeman emphasized the urgency of modernizing the FAA’s air traffic control systems while maintaining safety and efficiency for travelers.

“Bedford brings more than 30 years of aviation experience — including as both a pilot and President and CEO of a regional airline since 1999,” Freeman said. “We urge the Senate to swiftly consider Mr. Bedford’s nomination."

As the FAA faces immense pressure to modernize, Bedford is expected to work alongside U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy to implement advanced technologies and ensure a robust air traffic control system for the nation.
