Ewald Biemans, founder of Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort, has been appointed Regional Vice President of the CHTA
In a significant step toward sustainability and innovation in the Caribbean hospitality industry, the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) has announced the appointment of Ewald Biemans as its new Regional Vice President for the 2024-2026 term. Biemans, a prominent figure in the tourism sector for his focus on eco-friendly practices, is the owner and developer of Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort in Aruba—a property recognized throughout the region for its commitment to environmental sustainability and carbon-neutral certification.
Originally from Austria, Biemans began his hospitality career in South America, working for renowned hotel chains such as Hilton and Intercontinental, before earning his degree in International Business from Florida State University. In the 1970s, he moved to Aruba, where he took on key roles in the management and ownership of several iconic hotels before founding Bucuti & Tara, a resort that has become a benchmark for sustainability in the Caribbean.
Biemans has been an active member of the CHTA Board of Directors since 1974, and his distinguished career earned him the prestigious Caribbean Hotelier of the Year award. He has also held leadership positions within the Aruba Hotel and Tourism Association (AHATA) and Arikok National Park, reinforcing his commitment to sustainable tourism and community service.
