Story of two unforgettable safaris in the heart of Africa
Discover the wonderful biodiversity of Rwanda through two unforgettable experiences lived by Karina Giorgenello from ABC Mundial
Kigali, Rwanda (Karina Giorgenello, special correspondent for ABC MUNDIAL) - Rwanda, a hidden treasure in the heart of Africa, has become an essential destination for adventurous travelers seeking unforgettable experiences. Here, the opportunity to see the magnificent animals that we once only knew through photographs and documentaries becomes an exciting reality. With a determined focus on the conservation and protection of endangered species, Rwanda has crafted two exceptional tourist experiences that cannot be missed.
The first one takes you to the lush mountains of Rwanda, where the majestic mountain gorillas await you in Volcanoes National Park, while the second immerses you in the marvelous vastness of Akagera National Park, home to lions, elephants, giraffes, and a variety of fascinating animals. Get ready to immerse yourself in an unforgettable journey where nature becomes your host and the wild animals welcome you in their protected and cared-for environment, ready to share their beauty and greatness with those seeking a deeper connection with wildlife.
Akagera National Park
From Kigali to the impressive Akagera National Park, the journey turned into an exciting odyssey filled with natural wonders and unexpected encounters with Africa's most emblematic wildlife. Starting in the early hours of the morning, when the world was still shrouded in darkness, I found myself in a jeep heading to the vast expanse of the park, eager to witness firsthand the magic of African wildlife. During the 3-hour journey to the National Park, we made a stop at a cozy cafeteria, where we were offered a delicious lunch included in the tour price. This well-deserved break allowed us to enjoy a tasty meal as we prepared to continue our exciting adventure towards the wonderful nature that awaited us at the final destination.
The trip to Akagera National Park was an adventure full of exciting moments and unexpected discoveries! As we ventured into the park, the wild nature revealed itself in all its glory, showing us the diversity and majesty of wildlife in its natural habitat.
Akagera National Park, which spans an area so extensive that it surpasses even the size of the bustling city of New York, was home to an astonishing variety of species. From the majestic elephants to the imposing lions and the graceful giraffes, the landscape was filled with the imposing presence of wild fauna. As the jeep glided along the rugged paths of the park, every turn revealed a new surprise, from the sighting of sitatunga antelopes to the intriguing shoebill storks adorning the horizon.
Akagera National Park, whose history of struggle and resilience intertwined with the turbulent events of Rwanda, had transformed into a living testament of how environmental conservation can revitalize the economy and well-being of a community. With comprehensive protection in place, preservation efforts had allowed even endangered species, such as the white and black rhinoceroses, to reclaim their natural habitat.
Throughout the journey, the beauty and diversity of the land of a thousand hills never ceased to amaze me. Rwanda, with its lush mountainous vegetation and tropical forests, revealed itself as an African tropical paradise teeming with unique wildlife. From the majestic mountain gorillas to the playful chimpanzees and a variety of primates in their natural habitat, every corner of the country seemed like a live natural documentary set.
Akagera National Park, the crown jewel of wildlife in Rwanda, stood out as the country's most extensive national reserve. With its vast savannah plains and the rich variety of animals that populate its environment, every moment in the park became an unforgettable experience.
