The anticipated landscape that many experts had foreseen for the primary elections in Argentina, in which the votes of the citizens would be divided into three thirds, had an unexpected protagonist: the far-right figure Javier Milei emerged as the most voted pre-candidate across the political spectrum.

The peronism represented by the figure of Sergio Massa suffered a stunning defeat in Argentina's primary elections (PASO). The definitive results have unveiled that the libertarians led by Javier Milei secured the highest number of votes, with a resounding backing of 30% of the electorate. This unexpected victory of Milei, whose propositions include the abolition of the State and opposition to abortion, reflects the deep resonance of his message of protest and change within society.

With almost 7 million votes, the libertarian economist, leader of the "La Libertad Avanza" movement, not only capitalized on the discontent of Argentine society but also became the most voted politician among the presidential contenders for October 22nd.

Nevertheless, as the counting progressed (reaching 95%), the gaps between his party, which won with 30.17%, and the other two most voted parties narrowed: the main opposition coalition, "Juntos por el Cambio" (center-right), with 28.25%, and the ruling party "Unión por la Patria" (Peronist), with 27.15%.

In a celebratory atmosphere at Bullrich's campaign headquarters, accompanied by her running mate Luis Petri, the politician expressed her desire to transform the lives of Argentinians through her government. She expressed gratitude to the other contenders in the internal races, Larreta and Gerardo Morales, and directed a special message to Mauricio Macri.

On the other hand, Sergio Massa, the presidential candidate of "Unión por la Patria," remained steadfast despite the defeat and called on the citizens to safeguard social achievements and labor rights. With determination, he pledged to tirelessly fight over the next 60 days to reverse the situation and achieve victory in the October and November elections.

In this turbulent political scenario, Argentina faces a period of intense electoral campaigning, in which the divergent visions and proposals of the candidates will seek to win the support of citizens who clearly yearn for a profound change in the country's direction. The upcoming weeks will be crucial in determining the path the nation will take and the impact this election will have on its political and social future. The PASO elections (Open, Simultaneous, and Compulsory Primaries) held this Sunday in Argentina positioned Patricia Bullrich, former Security Minister in Mauricio Macri's government (2015-2019), on the launching pad to potentially become the country's third female president.
