Barcelona win La Liga title as Lionel Messi hits hat-trick against Deportivo La Coruna to secure domestic double

Barcelona have wrapped up another La Liga crown after Lionel Messi's hat-trick inspired the Catalan giants to a 4-2 victory at Deportivo La Coruna, whose relegation has been confirmed.

The visitors looked to be cruising when Philippe Coutinho and Messi put Barca two goals to the good after 38 minutes but Lucas Perez and Emre Colak scored either side of half-time to level matters.

Messi had the final say, though, netting twice in the final 10 minutes as Barca moved an assailable 11 points clear of closest rivals Atletico Madrid.

Real Madrid have therefore been relieved as champions as Barca sealed their third league title in the space of four seasons, and seventh in 10, one week after regaining the Copa del Rey by hammering Sevilla 5-0.
