The worldwide spiritual leader and Caliph of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community, His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, urges Muslims to reject and condemn all forms of violence and extremism
First of all I express as an Imam and Representative of the worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Association, which has millions of followers around the globe and is united under the hand of one single spiritual leader and Caliph- the Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, our deepest condolence, sympathies and prayers with the victims and the families who are affected by this very recent barbaric attack in New York.
Such cruel barbaric attacks on innocent civilians can not be justified under any circumstances nor by any religion. However it is very painful and sarcastic for us Muslims of the Ahmadiyya Community that some individuals or organisations misuse the name of Islam for their personal interests and tasks - although such people and groups represent only a very small minority of Muslims - wheras Islam condemns and rejects all kinds of violence, extremism and terrorism in the strongest possible terms as it is mentioned in chapter 5, verse 33 of the Holy Quran, which states:
‘Whosoever killed a person – it shall be as if he killed all mankind; and whoso gave life to one, it shall be as if he had given life to all mankind.”
How can anyone link such coward and cruel attacks on innocent people to Islam, whereas Islam itself means to be in peace and to give peace. It is a shame that anyone tries to hide his violent actions behind the peaceful face of Islam, which commands its followers even to great eachother with a prayer of peace “Assalamo aleikum” (peace be upon you). Furthermore the founder of Islam – the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) – defined Muslim as such a person, from whose hand and tongue other human beings are in safety.
Rejecting and condemning any form of terrorism in the name of Islam the Holiness and Caliph Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad had a very clear message for the world whilst giving the keynote address at the 14th National Peace Symposium hosted by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community UK:
“Islam is that religion which has forever enshrined the universal principles of freedom of religion, freedom of conscience and freedom of belief. Therefore, if today there are so-called Muslim groups or sects that are killing people, it can only be condemned in the strongest possible terms. Their barbaric acts are a complete violation of everything that Islam stands for.”
His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad continued :
“It is the task of Ahmadi Muslims to show the true teachings of Islam which are of peace love, mercy and compassion.”
It is my prayer and hope that especially after such horrific attacks rather than starting to erect walls that keep us apart, we should build bridges that bring us closer together and we should stand stronger united against all forms of extremism and terrorism.
