Norwegian Aura to bring Whitney Houston’s music to sea with new entertainment lineup
Norwegian Cruise Line has unveiled the entertainment lineup for Norwegian Aura™, its new ship debuting in May 2027, with “Whitney: A Celebration of Whitney Houston” leading a program that combines live music, immersive theater and original productions.
Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has revealed the entertainment program for Norwegian Aura™, the company’s newest ship, scheduled to debut in May 2027. At the center of the lineup will be “Whitney: A Celebration of Whitney Houston,” an original production created in collaboration with The Estate of Whitney E. Houston and Primary Wave Music.
The production will celebrate the music and legacy of one of the most influential voices in popular music. Featuring live vocals, a live band, immersive visuals and contemporary arrangements, the 45-minute show will be presented at the three-level Aura Theatre & Club.
The performance will feature some of Houston’s best-known songs, including “I Will Always Love You,” “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)” and “It’s Not Right, But It’s OK.” The production aims to reinterpret Houston’s iconic catalog through a contemporary concert experience while preserving the glamour, confidence and extraordinary stage presence associated with the singer.
Houston sold more than 220 million records worldwide and achieved seven consecutive No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, along with six Grammy Awards. Her musical legacy has continued to influence generations of performers and audiences, making the collaboration one of the most anticipated entertainment features aboard Norwegian Aura.
The ship’s entertainment program will also introduce “ILLUMINOX: Infinite Wonder Unboxed™,” an original theatrical production combining large-scale illusions, acrobatics, original music and visual effects. The 45-minute show will transform the Aura Theatre & Club into an immersive world built around curiosity, surprise and wonder.
Live music will take center stage with The Vinyl Republic™, NCL’s new live music collective inspired by the legacy of vinyl records. The group will perform across genres including rock, country, funk, blues and pop.
Among its featured productions will be “The Vinyl Republic’s Journey Through Rock,” celebrating Journey and the era of arena rock, and “The Vinyl Republic’s Kickin’ It Country™,” a country-themed nightlife experience featuring contemporary hits and interactive line dancing.
Norwegian Aura will also bring back “LunaTique: Pop Circus™,” an adults-only immersive experience combining cabaret, circus arts, cocktails and nightlife. Additional entertainment will include “Aura FIRST NIGHT™” and “Latin LIVE!™,” a poolside celebration featuring live percussion, vocalists, dancers and Latin music.
From the Mediterranean to the Caribbean
Before beginning its Miami-based inaugural season, Norwegian Aura will sail a seven-day Mediterranean itinerary on May 21, 2027, from Trieste, Italy, to Barcelona, Spain, calling at Valletta, Malta, as well as Salerno and Civitavecchia, Italy.
The ship will then cross the Atlantic on a 13-day voyage from Barcelona to Miami, where it will begin its Caribbean season.
From June through October 2027, Norwegian Aura will offer seven-day Eastern Caribbean cruises calling at Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic, St. Thomas, Tortola and Great Stirrup Cay in The Bahamas. NCL’s private island destination will feature the new Great Tides Waterpark.
Later in 2027 and into early 2028, the ship will operate Western Caribbean itineraries visiting Roatán in Honduras, Costa Maya and Cozumel in Mexico, and Harvest Caye, NCL’s resort-style private destination off the coast of Belize.
With a high-profile tribute to Whitney Houston, immersive theater, live music and Caribbean itineraries from Miami, Norwegian Aura is set to become one of Norwegian Cruise Line’s major new attractions for the 2027 cruise season.
