CHTA: New AI guide for Caribbean hospitality teams
New guide provides hospitality leaders and professionals with practical strategies to manage workforce change, develop teams and implement artificial intelligence responsibly.
Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly changing the way businesses manage operations, improve productivity and develop talent. For the Caribbean hospitality and tourism industry, the technology presents significant opportunities while also creating new challenges related to jobs, skills and workforce management.
Against this backdrop, the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) has released the third edition of its AI Guidebook Series, the AI Workforce Transformation Guide for Caribbean Hospitality: Practical Strategies for People Management, Learning and Leadership.
The new resource is designed to help hospitality leaders and professionals prepare their teams for the changes associated with AI while providing practical guidance for integrating the technology effectively and responsibly into daily operations.
The guide places the workforce at the center of the AI transformation, examining how emerging technologies are reshaping hospitality jobs, required skills and people management. It also addresses the leadership, ethical and governance considerations businesses need to take into account as they adopt AI.
CHTA President Sanovnik Destang said AI represents an important opportunity for Caribbean hospitality, but its value will ultimately depend on how the industry uses the technology to support its people and strengthen businesses while preserving the warmth and personal connection that define Caribbean hospitality.
From understanding AI to putting it into practice
The guide is divided into two complementary sections.
Part I, “Understanding AI in Workforce Transformation,” examines the ways AI is reshaping hospitality jobs, skills and workforce management. It also explores leadership, ethics and governance considerations that businesses must address when adopting artificial intelligence.
Part II, “An Implementation Guide: Turning Strategy into Action,” focuses on practical implementation. It provides hospitality leaders with ready-to-use tools designed to help businesses move from strategy to concrete AI projects.
Among the resources included are an ethical AI charter, a bias audit protocol, a vendor scorecard, a pilot plan and an ROI calculator.
The guide also features implementation road maps, checklists, case studies and sample policies that can help hospitality businesses incorporate AI into their everyday operations.
AI, people and the future of Caribbean tourism
CHTA's initiative reflects a broader transformation taking place across the global tourism industry, where technological innovation is increasingly being combined with workforce development.
For hotels and tourism businesses, artificial intelligence can support productivity and operational efficiency, but successful adoption also requires employee training, strong leadership and clear principles for responsible use.
The new guide is intended to support that transition by giving Caribbean hospitality businesses practical resources to move beyond simply understanding AI and toward applying the technology in real-world operations.
As artificial intelligence becomes increasingly integrated into tourism, the human element remains central to hospitality. The industry's challenge will be to find the right balance between innovation, efficiency, workforce development and guest experience, while preserving the personal connection that remains one of Caribbean hospitality's defining strengths.
