The International Tourism Fair of Latin America (FIT) officially presented its 2026 edition, a particularly significant event that will mark the 30th edition of one of the leading tourism industry gatherings in the region.

FIT 2026 will take place from September 26 to 29 at La Rural Buenos Aires, in what organizers expect to be the largest edition in the fair's history, with more than 20,000 square meters of exhibition space and over 350 exhibitors.

For four days, FIT will once again bring together national and international destinations, companies, tourism service providers, industry professionals and the general public, combining business opportunities, tourism promotion, experiences and the latest industry trends.

A historic edition

The official presentation was attended by Andrés Deyá, President of FIT and the Argentine Federation of Travel and Tourism Agencies (FAEVYT); Daniel Scioli, National Secretary of Tourism, Environment and Sports; Valentín Díaz Gilligan, President of the Buenos Aires Tourism Board; Jennifer Elias Franjul, Director of Tourism Marketing at the Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic; and Adrián Manzotti, Vice President of FIT and President of the Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies of Buenos Aires (AVIABUE).

“Reaching the 30th edition is much more than celebrating a date: it is celebrating a history built by everyone who is part of tourism,” said Andrés Deyá.

He emphasized that FIT was created with the goal of connecting destinations and tourism professionals and that, three decades later, it continues to pursue that mission while looking toward the future.

“This anniversary edition finds us with a renewed FIT, featuring new spaces, new business opportunities and an agenda that reflects the transformations taking place across our industry. We want FIT to remain the place where tourism comes together, builds relationships and creates new opportunities,” he added.

The largest FIT ever

Daniel Scioli highlighted the scale of the upcoming edition during the presentation.

“We are going to have the 30th edition of FIT, which will be the largest in history,” he stated, emphasizing the joint efforts of the public and private sectors to achieve broader national representation.

Scioli also highlighted the Dominican Republic's role as Guest Country, as well as Argentina's visa-exemption measures for citizens of the Dominican Republic, China and India.

“I celebrate and appreciate the Dominican Republic being the Guest Country. There was a political decision at the highest level, with President Javier Milei, and coordination among all government areas to implement visa exemptions for the Dominican Republic, China and India,” Scioli said.

According to figures cited during the presentation, the Dominican Republic recorded a 120% increase in inbound tourism to Argentina, making it the country with the strongest growth in this segment.

Sports tourism takes center stage

One of the major new features of FIT 2026 will be the First International Sports Tourism Forum, scheduled for Tuesday, September 29.

The event will be jointly organized by FIT, the City of Buenos Aires and UN Tourism. Its objective will be to explore the impact of major sporting events on destinations and the opportunities this segment creates for tourism development.

“FIT is a strategic showcase for the City and a driving force for the tourism sector. Our goal is to strengthen sports tourism, one of the segments that brings the most visitors and creates opportunities for the City,” said Valentín Díaz Gilligan.

He added that the forum will provide an opportunity to demonstrate the impact of sporting events on destinations and strengthen cooperation between the public and private sectors.

Dominican Republic, the Guest Country

The Dominican Republic will be one of the main protagonists of FIT 2026 as the Guest Country of the anniversary edition.

Its participation will showcase a tourism offering that combines beaches, historic cities, nature, gastronomy, music, culture and adventure to both industry professionals and visitors.

“It is an honor for the Dominican Republic to be the Guest Country of FIT 2026. We are coming with many surprises, including our gastronomic and cultural offerings and much more. We will showcase our country to Latin America and to the world that gathers at the fair,” said Jennifer Elias Franjul.

The Dominican Republic's participation is also expected to strengthen tourism and business ties between the Caribbean destination, Argentina and other Latin American markets.

New spaces and business opportunities

FIT 2026 will feature several thematic areas designed to reflect the evolution of the tourism industry and provide new experiences and business opportunities.

Among them are FIT Tech, FIT Food & Market, FIT Outdoor, FIT Cruises, FIT Fashion & Travel and FIT B2B, alongside the traditional Business Rounds, one of the fair's key platforms for commercial networking.

The initiative aims to expand opportunities for networking, discovering new trends, exploring tourism products and services, and creating business connections across the industry.

Four days focused on the future of tourism

With its 30th edition, FIT once again positions itself as one of the major events on the Latin American tourism calendar.

The fair will bring together national and international destinations, travel agencies, tour operators, tourism organizations, service providers and other industry players, along with a program of activities, thematic spaces and experiences for visitors.

FIT 2026 will take place from September 26 to 29 at La Rural Buenos Aires.

• Saturday, September 26 and Sunday, September 27: general public, 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.
• Monday, September 28 and Tuesday, September 29: primarily for tourism professionals, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
