Royal Caribbean Begins Construction of New Cruise Terminal at PortMiami
Miami, Florida – Royal Caribbean Group has officially launched construction of its new Cruise Terminal G at PortMiami, reinforcing Miami’s status as a global hub for the cruise industry. The $345 million project, developed in partnership with Miami-Dade County and joint venture Lemartec–NV2A, is scheduled for completion by the end of 2027.
Designed to achieve LEED certification, the new terminal will be capable of handling ships carrying up to 7,000 passengers, including Royal Caribbean’s Icon-class vessels. The facility will feature a multi-level parking structure, an intermodal transportation center, and essential infrastructure to support large-scale cruise operations.
The groundbreaking ceremony was led by Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, alongside members of the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners, PortMiami Director and CEO Hydi Webb, and Royal Caribbean Group President and CEO Jason Liberty.
Planned as a single-berth terminal, Cruise Terminal G will streamline embarkation and disembarkation through the integration of advanced terminal construction technologies, energy efficiency systems, and an enhanced guest experience. While dedicated to Royal Caribbean Group, the terminal will retain operational flexibility to serve multiple vessels.
“Cruise Terminal G represents a major investment in Miami’s future,” said Jason Liberty. “Built with cutting-edge technology and sustainable design, this new facility will deliver a smarter, faster, and more seamless experience for guests sailing with our industry-leading brands: Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises, and Silversea.”
Liberty added that the project reflects the company’s commitment to innovation, collaboration, and responsible growth, while creating jobs and supporting the local economy for years to come.
Funded through a public-private partnership between Miami-Dade County and Royal Caribbean Group, the new terminal is expected to further strengthen Miami’s position as the Cruise Capital of the World, setting new standards in port infrastructure and cruise tourism.
